I AM SORRY!! Really i am, all my dedicated fans out there you must be apalled. My personal assisstant has reported all of your grievances to me concerning the shoddy entry last week! I guess as Katy guesse, the humidity and the heat is just frying my poor little brain! I should have known better! I hope you can forgive me!
To the subject in hand - today we experienced first hand, something we had been warned about before even entering Thailand - something that was inevitably going to occur without a shadow of a doubt .... the Chang Hangover!!! Not fun when it is thirty something degrees outside, humid and the sun is so strong you can feel your retinas dissolving by the minute! Still, you have to take the rough with the smooth and after a bit of food, a few bottles of water and a swim in the sea, we began to see that light a the end of the tunnel!!
We met a couple of Austrian guys (Mike and Matthias) whilst doing a cheeky bit of snorkelling in the lovely warm water! We started chatting away whilst precariously perched on top of a flat section of coral (the rest being surprisingly sharp! I got a little dot dot on my hand from the b*****!) with the fishes swimming around our feet. We got on really well and chatted for ages (well i did more than Sar, she had to swim ashore to get some more precious tanning in [well she has only travelled tropical countries for 6 months the poor thing!]) and decided to meet up later that evening for some grub as we were staying in the same resort. We told them how poor we were but agreed that we would go out for one beer and thats it as we knew of a cool bar that we went to a few days ago (that night was the first time we found draught beer in the whole of asia i think, we were so excited. however, that pretty quickly wore off as we discovered that the beer was as flat as a pancake [even the expensive heineken was crap!!] but it was nice to drink from a pint glass again! Anyway, the best thing about the bar was that they had 2 Ozzie guys playing the first bit of good music we have heard in ages, so we spent the evening singing along over our beers!) called Choppers.
No surprises at all when one beer was followed by a few more until we were searching out the next party vebue as the bar shut! The guys even bought us an expensive german wheat beer as we had never tasted one before. it was really nice and came in this wicked funky glass that is supposed to aid the flavour and the experience! The guys showed us the technique to pour this beer which was pretty weird! The only bad thing was that the same 2 guys were playing exactly the same set, so we knew which songs were goingto be played, but it was still cool! After that Sarah popped back to the bungalow to don a skirt for the first time afer sundown in god knows how long (i think the beer got to her head and she forgot about mozzies for once!!) and we strolled the length of the beach to find the party! we found out where pretty much all of the island were drinking and proceeded to join them in their drunken frolics! The bar was right on the beach and as you can imagine there were people swimming and falling on the sea everywhere!! We had a bit of a sing song and then Mike revealed his Poi which he had tucked away in his pockets! He then gave us a wicked demonstation (Solena you would have been in awe!! this guy was a true pro, he was pulling of some wicked moves!! and then we all had a go! Surprisingly we could both do a simple move without too much bother - and that was whilst drunk! Think i am going to buy some fire poi (they love that out here) and practise that at home - much more effective than fancy ribbons!!!
So thats pretty much it! the rest of the time we have been swimming about in the sea and trying to top up our tans so the Bangkok pollution and sweating doesnt make us white again!!!!
Less than a week to go! Pretty scary
