Well hello again, we know it has been a long time since the last entry but the computers here are shockingly rubbish - and it costs us at least $4 a go!!!
Since the last entry just after Neighbours night, we had those few nightmare days hunting for a campervan when we struck gold, we rented 'Roy' (our deluxe 4 berth motorhome) for only $5 a day, but the only downfall was we could only pick it up on xmas eve, and it was due back in Sydney on Boxing day.
On xmas eve Sarah, Kim and I left real early to get to the other side of the city for 10 o clock, which we did via tram and train - only to find out that it was gonna be a couple of hours late ..... those couple of hours took a really long time and we didnt even get going until 3pm!!! Kim and Sarah even had time to go back into the city to get Kims driving license which was left at a mobile phone shop.
We finally set off, and after getting lost and stressed in the middle of Melbourne, we had exited the city by around 4pm, not giving us too much time to see the sights of the ocean road on the 1100km trek!!!!! We trucked on hard that night all the way until 3am, all of us took turns to drive to try and put as many miles behind us as possible!!! There were some really pretty towns on the way through, it was a pity we didnt have time ti stop. However, we did see a whole load of kangaroos on the side of the road when it got dark. I was busy sleeping in the back and Kim and Sar were scaring each other with horror stories and trying to not ruin the motorhome by crashing into these huge roos. We also saw a couple of wombats - on their backs at the side of the road, victims of aussie bull bars!!!
Asit hit 3am i was on the last leg and called it a night, pulled in to a rest stop and crashed out for a few hours!! Kim then set the driving off again at 8am!! This time we made 1 stop before Sydney, at Pebbles Beach - a beach famous for its' tame roos (which apparently even go swimming in the sea). We stayed there for a while but only saw 2 roos. Then we jumped back into Roy (named after a guy at a travel desk who laboured for hours to try and find us a campervan or accommodation) and set off, hitting a very bright and sunny Sydney for about 3.30pm, where we met up with some friends for a bbq at rushcutters bay!
It was quite an odd Xmas but nice to be chilling out in the park. The famous Sydney to Hobart boat race was starting the next day, and a whole load of the boats were moored at rushcutters, so we went for a nice wonder around and took some lovely pics!! After all this we jumped into Roy, blew the dust off the old playing cards and settled down over a couple of glasses of cheap Rose.
Last night after moving to another hostel (yep we had a sad farewell with Roy) we met some guys from Buckinghamshire and it was one of the their birthdays. He had booked out Sydney's famous minus 5 ice bar, a bar made completely of ice - the glasses, the bar, the seats, EVERYTHING!! you get half an hour slots to go in (dont think you could last any longer) and some funky boots gloves and a nice big warm coat!! After that we all moved on, and went on a mini pub crawl around Sydney - it was a really good night, we all were really drunk and surprise surprise - i got chucked out for being too intoxicated!!! HA!! what a joke!!! me?? never!!!!
We are now out in the blue mountains in a nice little town as all of the rooms in Sydney have gone, but we are going to go back to the city to see the fireworks tomorrow!!! cant be all the way over here and miss that!!! Apparently it is extra special this year as the bridge is 75 years old!! so that should be wicked, if we can get a good vantage point overlookijng the whole harbour.
Well thats about it i think, i am off to my bed now as i am shattered!! have only eaten a big bag of crisps all day!!!!
