Recovering from Lord Howe and sorting out my gear took a couple of days, but it was really nice to be back in Manly and catch up with everyone. We spent a morning scrubbing Copernicus down and cleaning everything after the race and I had a much needed haircut!
Went to my first gig in Australia at the Metro Theatre on George Street with Carl, Carl and Maria to see the Charlatans (UK mid-90s band) which was good fun. The entire audience was English. We are really coming into festival season though so it'll be good to try and catch some more live music.
The following night I went over to Bondi and caught up with Nick Draper (uni friend who's living in Bondi) and Oli Smiddy (uni friend who's just finished a tour of Afghanistan) at Mocean. Awesome to see Oli all in one piece on his last day of his holiday in Australia. It's slightly sureal seeing friends on the other side of the world, and I'm doing quite well so far! Sama and Mark in the night market in KK has to be the most sureal yet.
