Life has been so busy I am having to refer to my diary to remember what I have been up to!
So, after a great day of whale watching and jazz, Lucy and Andy kindly invited me along to their day of lunch at the Fish Market with Jill, Jim and Chloe, followed by the Bondi to Coogee walk.
The fish market is fabulous - loads of stalls of freshly caught fish and you can pick and choose what you want and then eat outside fending off the seagulls! We had a great selection of grilled mix, prawns and sashimi. Apparently at Christmas the queues are immense as everyone buys up their Christmas Day lunch.
We managed to navigate the Sydney public buses to get to Bondi. It was a fabulous day and the views along the walk to Coogee were amazing. Despite Andy being rather reluctant (and having to carry a fairly large tripod...) I think he enjoyed himself! After arriving in Coogee Andy gave his snowboarding buddy Guy a call who took us back to his place in Maroubra. From there we stocked up with some beers and gin and tonic and headed off to the headland. Our self styled posse grew by the minute and by the end included Katie (Guy's wife). Ludo and Katy (another boarder and his Scottish girlfriend), Bianca and Dan and a couple of other waifs and strays. After watching the sun go down we all piled into Guy's van and went for some Turkish pide - yum! Being miles away from Lane Cove Guy and Katie were awesome and gave me a bed for the night - saved a total mission of a journey home!
The next day was pretty dull - my Responsible Service of Alcohol course... yawn. Pleased to report that I passed. The upside of now having my RSA means that I now have a job at the Manly Wharf Bar... as the name suggests, it's a bar on Manly Wharf and appears to be one of the key hangouts. I had a trial yesterday, my induction today and then starting proper shifts tomorrow. So far it's fun and social and time flies as it's pretty relentless!
Thursday I said goodbye to Carly, Paul and Tummy the cat and moved into Ashling's spare room in Manly. Located at 43 The Crescent it's a pretty sweet spot right on Delwood Beach. Absolutely loving the fact that I can open my window and hear the sea :-)
Friday was Lucy, Andy and Kiyomi's parents last day in Australia so we met for lunch at the Manly Wharf Bar to say our goodbyes. It's been great having them here - going to miss my day trip buddies!
Friday night I set off on my first Ozzie offshore to Flinders Island. Despite the fact that 2 people sadly died on this race last year I am pleased to report that it was pretty uneventful. The absolute highlight was the huge pack of dolphins speeding through the phosphorecense and playing around the boat - an absolutely incredible sight! Only took 13 hours so we were back Saturday morning to a Bundy and Coke on the deck! It was more sailing on Sunday with a pursuit race, followed by some beers on the terrace of the yacht club.
Other than that I have been getting into Power Yoga - for those of you into yoga it's vinyasha flow yoga in a heated room a bit like bikram. Signed up for 10 days for $20 and so far I have been every day. Went to see Eat, Pray, Love the other night with a Finnish girl I met in the hostel. Perfect travelling movie and made me want to go back to Bali!
Hope all's good in Blighty? Summer is definately on its way here :-)
