Hi everyone,
Jenni here, thought i'd add something to the blog. We are in Chiang Mai at the moment, arrived here on Thursday morning, got the overnight train up from Bangkok, that was an experience! I was on the top bunk and it was very narrow, bright and bumpy, think i managed to get about 3 hours sleep! Gillon definitely had the better deal on his nice wide bottom bunk! Never mind, it was an experience!
Have just been on a 3 day trek in the National Park north of Chaing Mai, it was great! We both loved it! We were trekking, bamboo rafting, elephant riding and we visited the mountain tribes and some waterfalls! We were in a really good group and the guides were great, so we learnt alot about life in Thailand. Enjoyed the campfires and beer too! I must admit though, we were glad to get back to Chiang Mai to have a shower and get some sleep and my legs are pretty sore today!
Having a great time and feeling very relaxed, work seems very far away at the moment!
Anyway off for a wander around a flower market and maybe a Chang beer, hope all is well at home,
Love Jenni x
hey, gillon writing now. been on the other computer trying to upload some photos but oh my god it is murder! feels like i have done 5 rounds with tyson and he has chewed half my ear off as well. hopefully there will be some on it today with any luck!
up north there is a different lifestyle to that of the hussel and bussel of bangkok. the train journey up was good - felt like a big camping trip - and as jenni grudginly mentioned i got the bottom bunk. now, i wanted the top bunk but being the gentleman i am gave jenni it! slept ok and staying in a really nice wee guesthouse near the backpacker regio
trek as jenni said was really good. tough work though and i had a few wee scares with my knee twisitng going down hills. i could imagine getting airlifted out at one point however survived with only a few falls.
now back in the town with a lazy day today. booked a cooking class for tomorrow afternoon to further my kitchenery skills that i already posess - nil! sure i can teach the class about how to catch and skin a highland haggis!
only had two thai massages so far and what an experience. enjoyed both untill the stretching part where the girl twists my arms over my head and behind my back. i dont think she realised how unsupple i was. then she go my arm in what i can only describes as a chinesse burn position before turning the screw shortly after with some twisiting of my dodgy knee where again images of a airlift to the nearest hospital would be needed.
here for another fews days then off to laos to get a slowboat down the mekong. in laos for a week before flying to kho samui for a three week island jumping holiday and maybe a few more massages!
hope all is well at home and the sun she shines!
take care
gillon
