On Monday we set of for Gollonging....I think thats how its spelt - any way its on the map... for a 4 day surf camp! The camp was pretty chilled and right on the beach, an awesome set up with benches in the middle of all huts where we could see all the photos that Adam - the insane ozzie surfer guy - took of us all during the day's surfing lessons and watch movies n listen to music whilst eating/drinking!
Had 2 lessons a day was pretty awesome heaps better than body boarding, but a lot harder than they made it look, the waves sometimes got really sucky n it was hard work paddling to catch them - and these were just beginer waves! On the first night we drank a bit then walked down to the beach n looked at all the stars - Tom freaked me out telling me that something ran really quick across the beach in the distance towards the dunes in the darkness - then I wanted to get off the beach a.s.a.p - pretty sure he was jus winding me up tho! ahhh! anyway the stars are totally different down here - could see millions of them!
On the second day of surf camp in the 1st lesson after I was really starting to get to grips with standing up, feeling really good, I caught this one wave n once I got to the beach hoped of, n yes twisted my ankle in doing so - ouch! so sat out for the rest of the day n iced it hoping that I could go back in the next day! that night we played drinking games n then people went down the beach again but my foot was killing way too much n started to look like an elephants foot so ended up going to bed after lights out at the camp site.
The next day my ankle got really stiff n tight and I wanted to get it checked by a doc so thay said it would be best for me to head back to Sydney incase xrays were needed etc...so I left camp a day early n took a 3 hour (stop at every damm station) train ride back to sydney, then hopbbled like a granny to the hostel, then hobbled up George street to the medical centre where I had to wait bout an hour n a half, Doc said its a maj sprain and that I had to lay off from heavy excercise for up to 6weeks, the swelling should go in a week, but to keep resting it etc....damm weak ass ankle! grrr!
So thursday I missed out but Guy the owner of surf camp said I could ring him up next time i'm in sydney and go back n do the 2 days surf I missed - which was cool of him. So when the others got back to Sydney on thurs eve I met up with them and went to Scubar for free beer...hobling like a granny...feeling like a prune!
