First full day in Rome.
After a late and leisurely breakfast and yet again more croissants, ham and cheese we take to the streets of Rome.
We opt for the hop on hop off open bus and see the sights of this city.

We arrive at the colosseum and get off the bus to take in this ancient place.
We join an English speaking tour our guide is 'Paulo'.
He is informative and we get the history of this famous place.
Back on the bus to finish off the sights of Rome.

We finally arrive back close to our hotel now 3pm and opt for a late lunch of pizza and beer and then a gelato it is very hot here in Rome 35c.

Now back at our hotel for a siesta before we head out around 8 for dinner. We are recommended a good restaurant for pasta and head off to find.

We settle in for pasta and a bottle of wine and watch the going ons around us, they serve you quickly to get you in and out so they can turn over your table however I think they know we are Australians and they know we like to sit and take our time, we are not pressured to move on quickly.

After dinner we head back towards our hotel and do a bit of souvenir shopping and have a bit of fun with the kiosk owner. Brian is not convinced he had had enough beer so we stop at a restaurant to have another drink and coffee.

We have found the locals very friendly and helpful and our limited Italian hasn't been an issue at all.

That finishes off our first full day in Rome tomorrow we our doing a tour of the Vatican, the Sistine Chapel and St Peters.
