With no caravan we stayed in a lovely wooden cabin in a camping ground in Middlebury, Indiana. This small town is in the midst of the Amish community and is a very popular holiday and tourism area. During last winter the town had some sixty eight inches of snow, obviously not all at once, but had three to four inches on the ground all the time. With Cam away on work trips for the next two weeks we had decided that Monday, 20 June was an excellent day for us to head out of Durham on our road trip. In 2015 we spent four and a half months on the East Coast of the USA spending time with our son in Durham in North Carolina and exploring areas north and south of there travelling some 17,000 mile. Our flight from Raleigh to London was re-scheduled to depart early and we flew at 35,000 feet which is apparently higher than normal so we could fly at higher than normal speed to allow an early arrival into Heathrow. Southern England had been blanketed in thick fog for over twenty four hours and there was a small window for arrival of planes and we needed to meet it.
