Our flight from Raleigh to London was re-scheduled to depart early and we flew at 35,000 feet which is apparently higher than normal so we could fly at higher than normal speed to allow an early arrival into Heathrow. Southern England had been blanketed in thick fog for over twenty four hours and there was a small window for arrival of planes and we needed to meet it. We left Mt Maunganui on Wednesday afternoon and drove to our daughter and son-in-law's home where we stayed for a couple of nights. Thursday was an important day in the Lumsden household as it was Zoe's birthday.
