Crossing the border into Ecuador had not been as bad as we had feared. We had been given the usual scare stories, and things did not look good for us as we ended up in a mini bus and not an international bus as we had been promiced. But a nice chap helped us all the way over the border and onto an onwards bus. It is a very strange crossing with another bridge separating the countries but it seems alot of dead mans land belonging to neither Country, about 3kms in a taxi from one immigration office to another. It feels unsafe, but without hitch we got our 5th stamp from South America in the passports and continued on to Cuenca.
Cuenca is such a beautiful city, very colonial and clean. We stayed in a lovely quint hostal right by the Rio River with such friendly owners that could not do enough for us. Wondering the streets is such a pleasure and so is eating out, as we discovered the best cafe serving awesome Columbian food dirt cheap. And great Ice cream parlours aswel. In search of a Ecuadorian culture education we looked for meseums, but gave up after going into only one, which happened to be the most religous, convent museum, all in Spanish, needless to say we stayed in there all of 20minutes!!
