The flight on the A380 was very good, so good that you don't even feel the plane take off and I almost didn't feel it land either...but land it did. We were now back in Merry Olde Blighty....and we felt the cold as soon as we got off the plane. Next up was the laughing stock known as British Immigration. The UK & EU queue was in chaos with only 3 people on the desks, the automatic scanner section was closed but no one bothered to let anyone know and so mayhem ensued. The "Other Passports" section was better manned and less of a queue. Eventually I was let back in to the UK by the nice chap with the impressive Islamic beard.
We then headed to the Terminal 3 Underground Station for the Piccadilly Line. We change over to the District Line at South Kensington and get off at Victoria. We've booked the National Express Bus back to Cardiff so we can end the trip in the same way we began. We've got a couple of hours to wait and so check the bag in at the coach station and have a wander. We needed to get our tickets sorted but every information desk was closed. We walked around Victoria Railway Station and noticed the beggars and street sleepers, something that was a bit of a shock after not seeing such things for a few weeks.
Back at the coach station I try to collect the bag and hand my ticket over, only to be told that I cant do this as other people are waiting to deposit their bags. I explain that I'm just waiting to collect the bag and I'm happy to wait. I'm then rudely told that I cant simply walk up to the desk and wait. I'm not sure what this guy wants me to do. If it were Dubai, I doubt if he'd still be employed. First impressions and all that.
The weather was glorious on the ride back to Cardiff and it was a pleasure to see the wonderful colours of Autumn. We were surprised that there were still so many leaves on the trees considering the storms that have visited the UK over the last couple of weeks. From Cardiff we jumped on the Valley Line train, unlike our departure in September, the trains were running this time and we eventually got back to our local station. Mrs.Gibbs & Father were waiting for us and hugs and kisses were in order and it's great to see our family again. It's nice to be home.
There's still a few things to put on the blog and we'll start to upload the photographs and so will let you know as soon as that's done. Many thanks for following us on this trip and I will later write a Cast List......
