February seemed to fly by in a hail of rain, floods and general misery. That said, we could slowly see the days getting that little bit lighter and lifting the normal air of despair that the winter months bring. We were quite lucky with temperatures though and again it never really got below zero. That's good news for us as our seeds and plants are coming along nicely. This week we're going to start seeding a lot more herbs. The Tomato plants and cucumbers are begining to grow quite quickly along with the fruit bushes. Thrilling, I know.
We've had a couple of road trips but not really been that far, there's a picture attached of the general driving conditions in February and you'll see why we cant be bothered to go too far. We have braced the elements though and at least have consistently walked in the evenings.
As the weather has become marginally better, I've taken the opportunity to take a few strolls around the City Centre of Cardiff. It's quite interesting as things have changed over the years and mostly for the better. Cardiff has quite a compact City Centre and it's easy to get around, it's also retained a lot of it's old character but you'd have to look upwards to see the old archictecture. Cardiff Market is still a gem as far as I'm concerned, it's the one place that has remained constant over the years and I'll add some more photos of it later on.
Other February activities included watching the thugby, although we missed the Wales Vs. France game due to train problems. The big game looms next week. So fingers crossed for that one. Could be a toughie. Other than that, some of the homebrew got bottled last night. It's always time consuming as opposed to booze consuming. It's hard work but hopefully worth it. Jim's Lager has now been bottled and is undergoing the secondary fermentation process. Will bottle up the Real Ale in the next day or two and then get another couple of brews on the go. For all those giving up Lent for Alcohol, give me a call.

Rob Lewis Well, it makes a change from the usual hail of boots and fists up there in the Stare, I guess. Seen any of this stuff: https://www.facebook.com/RememberOldCardiff Most before even my time, but interesting nonetheless. I agree, Cardiff’s miles better now but....I grew up in grotty, falling apart, Soccer Special vandalism Cardiff, and i remember it fondly that way. With a bit of digging I also came across some old club reminiscences, The Moon, The Square, Montys, Casa B, Grannies. Perfectly ghastly, but very funny in their ghastliness. All together now: pass the Amyl Nitrate!!
Ma Gibbs Once again you made me laugh out loud! When I remember Cardiff in the sixties the old buildings were black with coal dust and everything was grimey. At least there has been a lot of cleaning up and the buildings that are left do look so much better. Luv Ma X
Lord Gibbs So glad you found the Turkish looking facade I mentioned. Cardiff has lots of interesting buildings, especially if one bothers to look up! The market photo’s were interesting too and of course the lovely St.John’s Church.
