The Mytilene pulled into Karlovassi Port and we got off. There were no buses there and we had the feeling that we werent in the right port to get the ferry to Kusadasi on the Turkish mainland. The day started sane enough..we were showered packed and ready to go. We headed to The British Embassy for Breakfast. I had a coffee, it was very strong. We then said goodbye to Mrs. Lady and the chef and headed to the Athens Metro Red Line...that's a fairly posh one and the aircon worked. We then changed to the Green Line, that's the graffitied one with some shattered windows and headed to down town Piraeus, scene of the murder that's causing all the protests. O...

We're now sitting in Mrs. Lady's cafe across the road from the hotel, which we've named The British Embassy. Not that we've seen any other Brits here, just that they've got used to us and have the beer ready when they see us. There's more locals dining today as it's Sunday and they probably need a bit of a treat to get away from the everyday woes of modern day Athens. We arise circa 8am, it's Saturday and the streets seem quiet. We decide to stick on the BBC world channel. They're telling us that the leader of the Golden Dawn Party has been arrested...and it's over to their correspondent in Athens...there's a picture of the young man as he speaks urgently over the telephone, next to his picture there's video of a riot going on ...with the words "Library Pictures", just to let you have a feel of the place. We go out for a walk ...
