Hello everyone, Hope you are all ok and enjoying reading our journals and looking at our photos.
Well today its Darren's birthday and we're in Stellenbosch which is the wine capital. We went on a wine tour today. Tasting a lot of different wines and had a guided tour around the cellars but not the cellars as we know them. We thought it was where they are stored in all the underground arches. We didn't get to go down in the arches with millions of bottles which is what we thought we were doing. We also got to taste lots of different cheeses including goats cheese which were nice. Gemma didn't like the red wine though. Our tour guide opened the first bottle of Champagne by slicing off the top with a spanish sword. We all thought he was joking but everyone was amazed that he did. As you can see by the photo above it turned out like this.
Stellenbosch is very much like Champagne, France with trees and white houses along the roads with lots of coffee shops and nice art shops. We both really like it here. We've got a package which includes 2 night's double room and the wine tour today and included a full blown lunch for 28pounds each. Very cheap. The weather is not warm at the mo. We are in trousers and jumpers. We will be going around the museums tomorrow and looking around all the shops. It's great here.
Well we have been to the Toy and miniature museum which was good. Darren loved the collection of cars which was worth over 1.5million pounds. The little old man which took us round was lovely and he was very sweet. He told us all about Stellenbosch and what it used to look like in the 1600's. We then went for a walk around all the little shops and had lunch in a cafe. We would defiantly like to go back to Stellenbosch as its one of our favorite places.
We will pack up and get the Baz Bus to Cape Town. Hopefully we will enjoy it.
Lots of love Gemma and Darren xxx
PS thankyou for all your messages to Darren wishing him Happy Birthday. He loved them all.
