Hello all...long time since we last put a message on here. At the moment we are in Ko Pha Ngan, all i can say is amazing. We are staying right on the beach and it is something else.
We have done a lot since Kuala Lumpur and travelled some distance. After K.L we travelled inland up into the mountains and jungle of Cameron Highlands. I heard the drive up there was beautiful..but as i was nursing a pretty serious hangover i passed out for the entire journey. We spent 2 nights here, as soon as we arrived we booked onto a full day tour excursion. This included a trek into the jungle to see the worlds biggest flower, a visit to o the local village people, to a tea plantation, a strawberry farm and a butterfly farm where we would end up playing with huge insects.
We started the day with being picked up in a 4x4 by a local guide called Bala. When we got on the vehicle we met the worlds strangest guy. He was some 40 year old travelling nut job..think he had lost his mind a bit. 2 hours into the trip i had to have some serious worlds with him with regards to his behaviour towards amy and paige...all sorted in the end and he left us half way through the trip much to everyone's (including Bala's) delight.
We trekked for about 90min up into the jungle where we eventually found the flower...sounds pretty fairy for a guy like me but it was pretty spectacular. After we made our way to meet local idegenous people. We learnt about and how to use a blow pipe. We each had a turn to aim for a traget 15m away...much to my dismay, the 2 girls hit the bloomin target...i missed., but was close! The tea plantation was quite interesting....amy, being a huge fan of tea and drinks about a litre of day of it back home was in heaven. Here they made the tea 'Boh', Malaysia's favoured brew. We were promissed that we would be drinking the worlds best starwberry milkshake when we arrived at the strawberry farm....we have had better. Unfortunately our camera broke that day and we lost all the pics.
After 2 days in the highlands we travelled via coach to the Island of Langkawi. On our 1st night here we went out for a sea food diner. We committed a silly act here by ordering 2 lobsters and 2 large king prawns. As we were too excited of the propect of eating such a meal we had not taking a moment to see that you were ordering it by the 100g. Ooops!! The meal cost nearly 90 quid. Yep...sure to say that we wont be doing that again. Idiots. We wer in Langkawi for 3 days. We took in the some much needed sunshine for 2 days on the beach. On the final day we hired a little car. Very cheap and useful as it rained most of the day. We drove to a huge waterfall and walked up to the top where you could swim in the pools up there.
Over the past week we have been island hoppping in thailand. We have been to Ko Phi Phi - Ko Samui - Ko Pha Ngan. Phi Phi is still recovering from the effects of the Tsunami but it was still really beautiful and the locals were always happy. Being here in Ko Pha Ngan definately feels like thailand. Tonight we head for the famous Full Moon Party. Everyone one is going to it...perhaps 5-6000 people may be there. Dot worry...ill look after amy and paige. Perhaps i wont drink.
Hope you are all well. Im off for a banana pancake!
