Getting lost while exploring
Arrived in San Diego Tuesday afternoon and booked into the local KOA campground. We walked down the road to Super Sergio's Mexican Kitchen and over ordered. The meals were massive, cheap & delicious! Walked back to the van feeling full.
The next day we slept in a bit and then headed into San Diego for the day. Had brekkie at a Deli which was yummy & healthy (for once). Bought a day pass for their public transport system, which included bus, trolley & train.
Walked along the port in search of a public restroom. Was stoked to find one as public restrooms are few & far between in America. Was surprised when I entered and found that the cubicles had no doors......what the hell, took me back to kindergarten days. Picked the far toilet and put my handbag down to show it was occupied. Random!
Then we visited the USS Midway CV-41 which is a US Ship which has been converted into a Military Museum. It has fighter planes on the top deck, needless to say, Sam was loving it!
We rode in a virtual fighter jet and took turns as pilot & shooter. We quickly discovered I'm not a good pilot as I had us doing 360s & crashed twice. Sam felt a bit sick after my flying. To be honest, I wasn't much better as a shooter, only shot down two planes and they were my own crew. We easily spent three hours on board. It was incredible value for $20 and I highly recommend it.
Afterwards we got the coastal train to Old Town which being so close to the Mexican border is all things Mexican. Had a look around and picked a highly rated restaurant called Coyotes for dinner. Again, we over ordered, but still found room for their famous deep fried ice cream.
Had a wicked day in San Diego so decided to stay another night to explore again the next day.
