Well Hong Kong passed in a blur, such a great city! We arrived in Bangkok late last night on Kenya Airways, a plane going to Nairobi via Bangkok! Initially we were worried that it was taking us to Africa and didn't dare fall asleep incase we missed our stop! Ha! Thankfully all was well and good and 2 hours later we arrived in Bangkok!
Our original plan of getting the express train went out the window when the station was shut so we took a cab straight to the hotel...well to the end of Kosan Road, the travellers nightlife road. No other words to describe it except mental! We had to walk through it and down some alleys with a old lady and a passed out baby begging on the street in order to find out hotel which wasn't enjoyable at all, wasn't the best start I must say!
First impressions so far of Bangkok are hot, busy and slightly intimidating, you definitely need to have your wits about yourself here!
We started off the exploring today by taking a trip to Wat Pho temple with the lying down buddha! We hopped on a tuk tuk who immediately tried to scam us and tried taking us to the river first for "nice boat ride", of course we declined! Rather than get one back we walked home and roamed the markets.
Bangkok is certainly a culture shock! Never seen anywhere like it! However were looking forward to taking it all in and meeting some people tonight! Tomorrow we plan on going to the Grand Palace and maybe the floating market then soon we'll be off to Chiangmai!
As for how it's 34 degrees so were getting ourselves to the pool!
