The Monkey Goes Travelling
Well hello campers, At the moment I am in Elles friend’s house - Cheryl and Wes, in Auckland. New Zealand is an amazing place, it has the most spectacular scenery. It has been a busy 3 weeks. I have done things I never thought I would do and enjoyed myself loads. We traveled around New Zealand on the Kiwi Experience that at first felt like we were on a school trip, but we soon got into the hang of it all. The South Island of New Zealand is very cold and wet. Whilst I was there did some amazing, ‘reality check’ things, including climbed a glacier - the fastest moving glacier in the world, one that I studied at university, the Franz Joseph. This was amazing, a bit hard work at times but felt amazing to know what you had just done. The ice at the front of the glacier is 300 years old and it’s the only one of 3 special glaciers in the world, being that it is right next to a tropical rainforest!! Doesn’t make any sense, glacier and palm trees!!!! w***a town was next with its Puzzle world attraction. This was good fun, but very mind boggling!!! Queenstown next and have a few very good nights out. Kaikura next, this is where most people went swimming with dolphins, would have loved to do this, and would have done if money was no issue! Stayed there for a couple of days just relaxing. This is then when we traveled off to the North Island. Wellington our first port of call - this is like any other big city, but very pretty all the same. Taupo was next, this was an amazing drive, the scenery was just so breathe taking. Taupo is were they filmed the Lord of the Rings - over Mount Doom, which is an active volcano in the area. This is were I did my sky dive. Sky diving is so fantastic, the feeling of falling through the air at 200 mph, you just can’t put it into words. It was the best 7 mins of my life and the adrenaline rush was just cool!!! Would definitely do another one - but want to do it from a bit higher next time, went from 12000 feet this time and it just went far too quickly. Then visited Hobbiton, the village that they used in lord of the rings. Got some cool pictures there, even tough it was raining. Rotarua smelled loads. It has loads of hot springs here, spent my time here relaxing in the hot pools in our hostel. It was very nice. Headed to Auckland next. Spent one night in town and then Cheryl and Wes picked us up. They have taken the time to show us around Auckland and from the west and east coast. It’s been so nice here, I would definitely suggest that everyone comes here - the scenery is stunning. Anyway going back to Sydney on Sunday. Can’t wait to get back to the V Backpackers, its going to be like I m going home. Anyway will let you know how I get on. Speak to you all very soonlove me xxxx
