Geraldton has a great waterfront along Champion Bay for families. The wharf end where we stayed had lots of silos of wheat and commercial fishing boats. Lots of development going on so the shopping wasn't too bad. We went to the Melb Cup Race Day where they had lots of seating and good view of the track which didn't prove lucky for us. We took in a tour of the hospital and goal, museum (Batavia wreck) and cathedral. It was windy most days and a bit cool at times....

There were a few other vans that we had met along the way here so it felt quite homely. We did a trip out to Nature's Window with friends so I packed the morning tea to share. We went to dinner with other friends to Finlay's BBQ, decor was pretty eclectic and food was awesome. We also saw the Kalbarri Cliffs from the land and then again from the sea on the Reef Walker Tour. Got to ride our bikes about for coffee too.

This sleepy little fishing village once had it's streets paved in pearl shells. The Main Street overlooks Shark Bay where several ships were anchored. This is also the most westerly town in Oz. Our van site was about two stories up set into the hill where we had a great view although a bit windy. This town had a few surprises for us, six caravan parks and an attractive main street and harbour for such a small population. Unfortunately we were too late to take part in a plantation tour, however we did get to enjoy some of the local produce. The 30 minute ride along the one mile jetty in the old train was relaxing and gave us good views as we went out over the mangroves and sand bars into the deeper water where the Gascoyne river meets the sea. Coral Bay is a favourite spot for families and visitors to WA as the calm shallow inlet is great for a paddle or walk along the shoreline. The edge drops off a few feet out and about a metre from there you can snorkel the coral and see the colourful fish.
