Can't believe Gem didn't mention the pandas!!!!!!
Once upon a time... in a land far, far away... an owl hooted, a monitor lizard wailed and a monkey screamed... and two theoretically grown up women ran around like 4 year olds around the pandas. (that probably only makes sense to a couple of people so sorry everyone else!)
The Panda Breeding centre just outside Chengdu is one of about 75 centres in China aimed at breeding giant pandas of which there are only about 1500 left in the world. They are obviously pretty successful at this as when we were there, there were 7 babies, most of them being cared for in incubators before being handed back to their mothers. I hate to use the word "cute" for giant pandas but they were extremely lovely. I wouldn't let Gem bring one home but did go a bit mad in the shop!!
Anyway... we have now finally managed to upload some photos and have also mastered the art of open plan toilets: most bizarre, I'm sure doors aren't that expensive!
