Greetings from the capital city of New Zealand... it's bloody tiny!
We arrived in Wellington this afternoon after a six hour journey (lots of toilet breaks) on the Magic Bus through the Tongariro National Park, past Mt Ruapehu. Our coach approached the city hugging the coastline so we had beautiful views of the Cook Strait. Rick, the new driver, took us for a little tour of the city, past the Beehive and Parliament Buildings, before driving up Mt. Victoria to the lookout.
You could see right over Wellington and Jim also spied a comedy photo op that I grabbed with both hands - a lone canon on the hillside. Seeing my chance I straddled it a la Cher in the Turn Back Time video but fortunately without the crotchless pants. Very immature but it amused us!
I did a bit more solo exploration this afternoon and Wellington seems pretty cool. It's got a buzz about it, something Auckland was totally devoid of (it just seemed flat and soulless). And we're here for three nights so I think we've picked a good place to be for Jim's birthday celebrations. Yes, that's right, old man Coxon is turning 26 tomorrow! I hope he likes his present...
Lots of love x x x
