We managed to get to Ko Lanta without any problems for a change. We found a bungalow on beach called relax bay, and it certainly was relaxing. It was the end of the season so their weren't many people about at all, just what we wanted. The beach wasn't a nice as either Ko Tao or Phi Phi but it was so peaceful.
On our first day we stayed on the beach all day and saw an amazing sunset that Matthew took about 30 photos of just so we got the best one. We then went to the only restaurant that was open and had a lovely meal and then had a few drinks at the only bar that was open.
Their is not really much to say about Ko Lanta as we just sat in the sun, swam in the sea and ate and drank a lot. Much of the same as all the islands really. We wanted somewhere quiet for our last island as we had a 24 hour journey to Singapore to prepare for. We did have some great food though. Some spicy thai food that is surprisingly hard to come by in Thailand as most of it has been made milder for the western travellers! The weather wasn't always great though, on our second night while eating the clouds opened and their was a huge thunderstorm. We carried on eating, even though the bamboo roof we were under decided to leak and the wind meant that we getting wet from the side too, not an ideal situation, but these beach restaurants aren't really built for such heavy rain. We were both drenched, we didn't really mind though, all we were bothered about was that our bungalow roof wasn't leaking so we had a dry bed. The couple that owned the restaurant felt really bad and kept apologising, they even lent us an umbrella to go home with, not that it did much good!
The next night as it was so quiet we asked them to join us for dinner. The food was delicious, we had a really spicy fish, infact all the food was really spicy, Matthew loved it. We had a really nice night, eating, drinking and actually talking to some locals for a change.
Overall we have enjoyed our stay on the different islands as they all have something different to offer.
So our next stop is Singapore for a few nights and then we fly to Hong Kong. South East Asia has been great with so much variety. We still can't really believe how easy it has been to travel everywhere overland. In fact the only problem i have had, and its not really a big problem is buying moisturiser and deodorant. They all seem to have whitening agents in over here as all the women want a white complexion as apparently it makes you more beautiful and more desired. Its funny really that most things in England have tanning agents in for us to look and feel healthier yet everyone in Asia seems to want to be whiter!
Next stop that we will update you on is Hong Kong
