Not really that much to say about Vientiane as it is just a stop off before we fly to Vietnam. It is the capital of Laos, but is like no other capital city we have been to, its more like a provincial town, the roads are not that busy, there is not really that much to see apart from a few temples, but it has been a nice place to just walk around.
On our first night we were still with Tanya and Neil, so after tea we went to the bowling alley as this place stays open the latest and apparently is the place to be. We had a good time, the beer flowed and both me and Matthew got our arses kicked as we were both so rubbish. I can't actually remember the last time we went bowling and it definately showed! This is Neil who still had to walk with a stick that managed to beat us! After a few games of bowling Matthew and Neil had a couple of games of 9 ball pool while me and Tanya just carried on drinking and chatting about rubbish as girls do after a few pints!
The next day, we had breakfast said our goodbyes to Tanya and Neil and then went for a wonder around Vientiane. Their is lots of French influence here and we could tell by a lot of the buildings as well as their version of the Arc De Triomph, no where near as good as the one in Paris, but still good. We then wondered around the markets, bought a few paintings and then went back to our hostel for an afternoon kip. The drinking has certainly caught up with me!
Tomorrow we fly to Vietnam, we are really looking forward to it, but i am sorry that we have not had longer in Laos to go further south, as we have absolutely loved everywhere we have been. This is definatley on our list for a return visit.
