Gelati to Giraffes- Our year away
Mon 14-1-13 DISNEYLAND DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Icy cold 12 degrees (max) but sunny. Los Angeles.
After a shocker night and a struggle to get up and going, we finally got out the door to catch the bus to Disneyland. A bit of trouble finding the bus stop despite our extensive research the night before. We had ended up walking right past the tiny sign right at the start and not realising till we back tracked. Luckily we had left plenty of time and still made the bus. We were the only ones on it which boded well. Kids... and parents all a bit tired and grumpy so hoping that the "land where dreams come true" would put things right.
Arrived at nearly 12 noon for what would be a wonderful 8 hours- almost all in Fantasty Land (just one small section of the park)! Coughed up a truly sickening amount of money for a 3 day pass to get in, and that is with Zac being free!! Dont want to think about it- we are insane!! Aunty Anna's present money at least a help.
Walked in to meet and have cuddles with all the favourites- Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Tigger etc. Zac screamed and screamed when he had to leave Pluto (line ups to meet the characters so couldnt stay too long).
We were so incredibly lucky as due to the cold weather- it was very quiet and we could almost walk onto the rides and the most we had to wait was only 10mins!! Got to go on the teacups 4 times- with Zoe able to test all her favourite colours- orange, purple and pink! Adam sat those out - wimp!!
Both the kids went on Dumbo the flying elephant- Zoe twice. This ride actually scared Mummy a bit as it flies really high but the kids loved it. Got to go on Mummy's favorite- the Alice and Wonderland ride twice too and 4 times on the Carousel!! Too lucky! Rode trains and rides in the dark (which Zoe decided she didnt like) and visited Toon Town. Zoe got to cuddle her favourite character- Daisy Duck ("because she has a bow"). Zac FINALLY fell asleep at 5pm after going ALL day long and lots of failed nap attempts. So, we then decided to push through to see the 7pm parade. Well worth it- an absolute highlight. Zac woke in time to see it and even got a high 5 from one of the monkeys. Again- thanks to now freezing temps, we got front row seats despite sitting down just as it was starting.
Bused it back home happily exhausted and dreaming of bed. Of course the little ones had other ideas and bounced about the room till after 11pm! URRRG! All worth it though. Cant believe we've only scratched the surface of the fun. Going to have a recovery day before heading back again and Wed and Thurs.
