Had a lazy morning, Gaz made some omelettes for breakfast with the eggs we bought last night. We were picked up at 12.25pm by the limo to take us to the helicopter for our Grand Canyon flight! When we arrived we were weighed - discreetly - and given a sticker with the name of our pilot - ours was Tara. Tara came in and called out our names and we went out to the helicopter, she told me and Gaz that we would be in the front of the helicopter and the other 4 people in our party would be in the back. She gave us some safety information; we boarded the helicopter and took off. The trip took approximately 40 minutes but WOW the views were incredible! We first flew over Lake Las Vegas and were informed that Elton John, Rod Stewart and Celine Dion all have permanent residences by the lake. Next we flew over Lake Mead and then on to the Hoover Dam. We landed in the canyon and had 30 minutes to explore, take photos and return to sit down and enjoy our champagne picnic. We walked along one of the trails to the edge (well Gaz did - too much bendy legs for me!!) and I offered to take a picture of another couple, they returned the favour for us. After admiring the views and taking more photos, we walked back up the trail toward the helicopter and sat down for our picnic. We were given a little picnic basket each containing a roll, cookie, pasta salad and fruit, Tara poured out the champagne. We met a couple who were from Wolverhampton and sat and chatted to them and to Tara our pilot. Tara offered to take pictures of each couple in front of the helicopter, Gaz was happy as it saved us having to buy the one they did at the airport before we left! (Only joking!!) We returned to the helicopter for our flight back to Las Vegas - which included a flight down the strip! Fantastic! Tara was very knowledgeable and pointed out various sights on the way back.
After we got back in the limo, we asked the driver to drop us at the MGM as wanted to buy some show tickets to see Penn & Teller.
We walked back our hotel to get ready for the evening out. The show was in the hotel Rio and we decided to have dinner there beforehand. The dinner was a buffet - it was OK - nothing fantastic, although the tiramisu ice cream and hot chocolate fudge sauce was delicious!
We went into the auditorium to watch the show - we had seen some of the tricks before, however there were some great new ones and Penn & Teller were both very funny.
