QUEENSTOWN - WELLINGTON
After giving up on waiting for Winterfest to start we left for Dunedin on the Monday.Got there, checked in and then set off for the tour of the Cadburys factory that kym's been looking forward to. Plenty of free chocolate! The next mornin we (I) climbed the steepest street in the world before moving on to Lake Tekapo. Had a cool driver who stopped whenever anyone wanted to, to take pics of the beautiful lakes and mounatins on the way. Stopped at a salmon farm n treated myself for tea-mmmmmh! Wrapped up warm n went for a walk around the lake n to The church of the Good Shepherd in the pic aboove).
The next morning we completed our south island circle n got back to Christchurch and booked on for the Tranz Alpine Express the next day-return scenic train to Greymouth on the east coast over/through the Southern Alps. As promised the view were amazing but i reckon we would have got more from it if wed done it the first time around. Rain halted play the next day, really for the first time n stopped us biking round Kaikora so made use of the sauna instaed. Got lucky tho n got put in a n ensuite room with its own TV n pretty much our own kitchen by accident. Like being in a hotel!
Got the ferry across to Wellington the next day taking in the views of Marlborough sounds n Kyms prayers were answered-it wasnt choppy. Spent a few days in Wellington: visited the Te Papa museum, got the hill train, ate KFC n met up with Bomber n his bro! After dressin up as the Spice Girls for the fancy dress and slaping the goon it was downhill from there. The less said the better!
Next Stop Wanganuhi..
