Arrived on the gold coast yesterday after leaving our dear friends Sharyn and neil at deception bay just north of Brisbane. Spent the day driving from Marlborough to Torquay at harvey bay. We called in on my friend from teaching days in mt. Gambier, jan and her husband George. They were surprised to see us and made us feel welcome. They drove us around and showed us the sights and took us to the yacht club for dinner. Today we had a quick daylight look around Bowen because we arrived in the dark last night. The caravan park was lovely and situated next to the sea, we could hear the waves lapping during the night. Today we said goodbye to our travelling companions and headed south along the coast. We called into Townsville and drove around the streets , it reminded me of cairns particularly the foreshore, with it's cafes and accommodation strip next to the beach. There is no lack of shade in Queensland caravan parks, the trees are so big up here and sprawley.
