I slept like a baby! Only a couple of time I woke, just to check the time. I had already packed the night before. After a quick wash and putting on my favourite yellow V neck tee-shirt! (You know the one! The one that makes me look like I've for t***!). Made sure I had everything before leaving the room. Wall to wall blue skies! Sun still quite low in the east! Today is going to be a hot one. Just have my fingers crossed it lasts for me to arrive at Mission Beach to work on my tan. I had brought a few bits of food, but I can't be arsed to cart it about. I'm not going to do any cooking unless I get the camper from Sydney to Melborne.! (which I really want to do!!). It was just before 0700, my bus leaves at 07:45 from the reef terminal, which is about a 10 minute walk with my pack on. I checked out, reception was closed until 8, so i was asked to whizz my key under the gap at the front door! In the city of Cairns they have the ironman contest going on at the moment, even at 7 o'clock it was busy, with roads closed. I managed to get to the bus stop without any problems. Checked-in, and boarded the greyhound bus! The first of many!! I was a little gutted that I'm stuck on a bus, but I guess I wouldn't have normally been awake by now anyway. The route was very green, with mountains on both sides, sugar cane growing everywhere. I sat on the left hand side of the bus, thinking that if we drive near the coast, I'll get the better view. I reclinded my seat, and watched the Australian countryside out the window!
I arrived at the mission beach grey hound stop on time, and there was a little mess up with my transfer to the accommodation, but it was sorted after about 5 minutes and a phone call. Arrived at the hostel. It's a nice small places close to the beach. I dumped my bags and went straight to the beach. It was prefect. Bright blue sky, sun shining, I got settled on the beach, and sunbathed for a few hours listening to my iPod. In the distance you could see all the sky divers falling from the sky, and land on the beach. Looked amazing and today would have been the best day to do it! Fingers crossed we keep the weather. I could have been here all day, but I started to get hungry. Walked to a small cafe and had lunch. On the way back to the beach I walked around the Sunday market, which was a little like a bootsale. I really want a new book. But couldn't see anything I liked the look of. Returned to my same spot on the beach! A few more hours passed and I headed back to the hostel. I needed to get some washing done, especially my towel it was stinking!! I checked out the skydiving to see if they had any availability for tomorrow, but sadly with the great weather they were fully booked.
I spent the evening sorting out some travel arrangements! Im goung to fly to Melborne and Canberra now. My credit cards has taken a hit!! But it's things I was going to do anyway! I made my own dinner, just pasta in a sauce! Then just hung out with the other guys at the hostel and watched a movie. It seemed very quite outside the hostel. I was on the top bunk, and every time I moved the bunk bed moved... I felt bad for the girl on the lower bunk, because I'm a bad fidget. Never mind!
I tried to book my skydive today, but they are fully booked. I was a bit gutted. The weather has been amazing, and landing on the beach would have been perfect. But as I don't have any spare time in mission beach, I'll try and book one for coff horbour. Just before I get to Sydney.
