The picture of Melaka doesn't give this beautiful place justice, and I will change it as soon as I have my camera photos uploaded.
It was another early sleep, thank god I headed back at 2:30 as I was pretty hungover: and all the girls that stayed out until 4, looked pale, and had dark sun glasses on. Today we had to get a 2 public buses to the town of Melaka. The first took us to the KL bus station just outside the city, and the other was about 3 hours. We then had to get into private taxi's to our hotel. It was a really nice hotel, great air conditioning, nice comfortable beds, and a toilet you can flush paper down! Oh and a TV, with a movie channel! Lol. The hangover needed some food, so we were going to a food court, before it was decided that we'd had enough of these- and all split our own ways, to have lunch and sightsee! We stopped at a local market, selling Asian food, and it was so cheap, and really tasty. I even had a tiger beer to wash it down. It was commented though, that I was the light weight that went home early!! Ha ha. Which is true!
After lunch, 8 of us, walked down to the harbour were we got tickets for the river cruise, we had a short time to wait before leaving, so managed to fit in an ice cream!! The river cruise was so good, the guide was great, giving us all the information, telling us about the history, culture of Melaka. A lot of the town seems to be set around the river, nice hotels, local housing, shops, attractions, and best of all a bar and restaurant called HARPERS! We are taking over the world. Our guide was making loads of really chessey jokes, but you couldn't help but laugh! It was about an hour on the boat, only us guys from G Adventures and another couple onboard. So the boat was pretty empty. As he was saying goodbye, and thanks I was ready to start clapping... But he then said goodbye in 99% of languages in the world, as you can understand this took a while. He was such a great guide, and all the language he's learnt has been from the tourist!
Next stop was Jonkers street, it's a bit like the Brighton lanes, with lots of antique shops, tourist shops, and places that sold jewelly and clothes! It was nice to have a wonder around. It was time to head back to the hotel, and get ready for this evening. I did manage to fit in a little sleep, and was in top of my game afterwards! We were planning to head back to Jokers Streer for dinner. Showered and ready, we made it back to Jonkers, a little sweaty, but it seemed cooler tonight. We had a really nice dinner in a restaurant, and I had the popular dish from Melaka - cant remember the name now tho! It has satay chicken, and drank another beer! The heat, the food, and the drink made everyone tired, so we started walking back towards the hotel, it was about 20 minutes away! On route... We found a children park! Climbing frame, that looked like a boat, seasaw, swings, we instantly turned into big kids! There were a couple of really funny things that happened! I went on the seasaw with Jo, and wouldn't let her come down to touch the floor, as I'm heavier than her! Leaving her suspended in the air! Monkey bars where I could touch the floor! Then Tess decided to slide down a twisted slide, getting stuck in the slide, I honestly was really close to pissing my self, (which seems to be a common thing in my blogs!) but managed to take a few photos of her coming out of the slide! Classic. We must have been in the park about 30 minutes, and I had got so sweaty! (no change there then!). Walked the rest of the way back to the hotel. Flicked on the tv and Never Let Me Go, was on - I hate the film but found myself was the whole thing!
Another early start tomorrow :-(
