We are in the City of Uncle Ho! We got the bus at 8:30pm on Saturday and arrived here on Sunday at 6:00am, with Sally from Chester and Lisa from Liverpool. We found a nice guest house for all 4 of us to stay in together and had some breakfast.

We went to the War Remnants Museum. The museum has information about how the Vietnam war was started and who was involved. It tells of the struggles of Vietnamese people and how the war is still affecting their people today. The chemicals used during the war are still affecting children born today, extra limbs missing limbs, brain deffects you name it - someones got it here. It can be a little harrowing looking at the gorey photos and still births that are pickled in the museum, however it realy does bring it home how awfull and un-neccesary war is. Also un-neccesary are the forms of torture used by the american GI's and the Vietnamese, water torture sounds awfully annoying but electrodes on the testicles are just taking it a bit too far! As for throwing them alive out of helicopters, well its discusting that another human being can live with themselves after doing something so horrendous. Oh, and towing them along behing their jeeps is pretty awfull aswell.

Garath had a whale of a time playing with the airplanes and tanks that were on display in the front courtyard. We both thought the Museum was quite interesting but some of the comments by the photos are still quite anti american.

On the Monday we went to the Cuchi tunnels. We started the day with a video about the tunnels, which to be honest I zoned out because it was so hot and have no idea what it was about. We then made our way to the demonstration area, where they showed us some of the traps that the viet cong had layed during the war, including swing traps, door traps, and recycled US bombs into mines and other traps. We went to an area where you could fire live amo at a tarket, using M15's and AK47's. We then delved into the tunnels, but soon came out as it was very hot and very low, fine for tiny vietnamese but not us lanky westeners.

We got back to the city centre at about 2:00 and went to the Market. They sell all your normal South East Asian souvenirs but the prices seem to be higher, to start off with anyway, we soon got them down for a Tin Tin in vietnam top for me.

That night we went for some food with the Girls and a couple of scouse lads. We went for a curry, then had some fresh beers in some dingy hole! We ended the night in a sleazy club where 30+(yrs old) western males pick up 20-(yrs old) local girls, gross!

Tuesday we woke up late and had to move as the lady with the gammy foot was trying to move us to a nasty room for the same price, I dont think so lady with the gammy foot! So we went to Ngoc Than guest house and were put in a beautifully new refurbed room for even cheaper. We spent the rest of the afternoon in KFC, and then had a nap and booked our bus to Can thoa for tomorow. That night we had some lush cheap food at the night market, I had stir fried Eel with noodles, Garath had basa fish fingers?! We also bought Dannan and Ellie a little present each at the market, but im not telling you what it is girlies, its a secret! I bought myself one aswell!
