The Mekong Delta, where the river ends! We have seen the Mekong river in China Laos and Vietnam and are now making our way up it into Cambodia. We got into Can thoa yesterday by bus, and booked our boat for today straight away. We didnt do much else yesterday just chilled out and sorted our bags out. Were still traveling with Lisa ansd Sally and lodging with them aswell.
We all boarded our boat at 5:30AM and our crazy captain headed us towards the 1st flaoting market of the day. We watched the sun rise, it was beautifull. The first market was the biggest, but wasnt as big as they used to be or as big as we thought they were going to be. Our Captain bought us a bunch of bananas, 2 pineapple's, and a bread roll each to share.
We headed to the noodle factory and saw how noodles are made, it was realy interesting. They make a big runny rice pudding sort of mixture, then make it into large pancakes, then dry it, then slice it into long thin strands - noodles!
Our captain picked us girls flowers and made us rings and windmills out of coconut palm. We then headed to the second market, same same but different. Then we went to the Village.
To get to the Village we had to head through tiny little canals, full of people washing themselves and pond weed/water spinach stuff that got stuck under the boat and stopped us going anywhere. After a bit of wriggling and water bashing we got to the village. We had some noodles and tofu, and a fight with the owner as he tried to charge us for wet wipes and fruit which his waitress told us was free, we didn't pay in the end.
Weve just got back and are hopping on a bus to Chau Doc.
