Were here in Laos! the place and the people are lovely.
The bus here was a bit mad, it was full of stuff and sweaty chinese men. It took us 11 hours to get here and we had a bumby road! The Laos border was funny, its like a shed with a load of guys sat in it filling out forms and stamping passports.
Were staying in a guest house in Luang Prabang. The lady who runs it is lovely her son Tolek has his 5th birthday today so were having a party tonight.
Yesterday we went to the Hive bar for lunch, we were lured in by the free beer Lao with every pizza. It was realy nice so we went back later for the Ethnik Fashion show. The lady who runs it has a passion for Laos and the people, so she tries to educate everybody about lao produced products and Lao culture. Aswell as the bar she has a shop selling fair trade Lao products and theres an exhibition of 100 things to do in Laos. It was realy helpfull as we have only just got here but now we know what we want to do.
We went to the bowling alley with a couple of guys after the Hive bar closed at 11:30. Everywhere here closes at 11:30 to allow for the 12:00 curfew thats for the whole country. Except for the Bowling alley, so theres lots of foreigners there all trading travel books and tips and getting quite trashed. We got home in a tuktuk at about 3:30AM.
We rented out pushbikes earlier today and went to all the temples in Luang Prabang. Theres quite a few so we just cruised past them and didnt go into any as you have to pay entry fee to all of them. We got some nice photos and will put them up soon. It was realy hot so we had to chill out under some trees for a bit. We saw some weird insects climbing up the tree, they were colourfull beetles the size of my thumb.
Anyway were gonna be having the party soon so I will update you all in a couple of days on how it goes.
