Bula everybody!
We have just returned from a lovely few days on the Coral Coast. The journey down to the hostel was an amazing experience. We took the public bus so were travelling on a bus where we were the only foreign people. The actual fijians are extremely friendly to us whereas the indian fijians are not. The bus journey was good because they played a dodgy copy of Iron Man 2. The scenery was also beautiful.
Our hostel was called the Beachouse. It was located in the middle of nowhere but was on a pretty beach and had an awesome pool. The rooms were very clean and only 6 people to a room. The bunk beds were very comfortable and you had your own reading light. They had a free pool table and table tennis aswell as free breakfast and afternoon scones and tea. Overall we had a lovely stay although we didnt find the actual guests there particularly friendly. On the last day we met two welsh girls and they felt exactly the same. The weather was reasonably nice to us while we were there, having 2 or 3 days of sun.
Kates was happy because they did free coconut jewellery making classes so she made a ring, a necklace and a bracelet. It is alot harder than it looks and it took her almost 5 hours to make the ring. On the last day she made the bracelet and because her wrists are so small, she couldnt just have a coconut bangle so the bracelet is really unique. She looked hilarious as 2 huge fijian men were helping make this bracelet and their huge hands and fingers trying to thread tiny bits of string through. They took quite a fancy to her because of the red hair and freckles.
We have been taught a few card games so we spent our evenings playing cards and pool, kates won her first ever game! To save some money we have been living off super noodles so when we returned to Nadi we shared a pizza as a treat. The hostel also had 2 really sweet dogs, Lucy and Diesel who followed us down the beach and were just lazing around the pool. So now we are back at Mamas Tropic in Nadi. We popped into the town this morning to get some food for our flight tonight and have a little look in the gift shops. Our flight is at 10pm saturday night and we arrive in LA at 1.30 saturday afternoon which is a bit strange. We will then be 8 hours behind you in the UK. Our plan is then to catch the Greyhound bus overnight on saturday night to San Francisco. It will be a bit of a killer but we have less time in the US than we thought so we have to get a bit of a move on. We must not let the pace slacken - Brian!!
So thats about it for Fiji, it is a lovely place and it would be lovely to return and have some really nice weather but all in all we have enjoyed our stay.
We are also really happy because we have found a mail order NZ shop in england where you can buy marmite and Tui beers - yey. The actual shop is in Covent Garden.
Thats about all for now.
LA LA Land here we come

Fiona and Brian Sorry about the weather in Fiji!! It's usually beautiful this time of year, but we kept seeing weather reports which said "thunder", "storms", day after day and couldn't believe it. It must be strange to be into "countdown mode" after so many months. You left NZ just at the right time, as we have had heavy rain (at last!!) and yesterday we had our first fire of the winter. Your lovely orchid now has four flowers open. Steph arrived home safely this morning from the UK - she and Kenny managed to see Fi & Justin before they left the UK for their various destinations. Missing you - yeah right!!
