So if you are going to be in Osaka, Japan you will no doubt see takoyaki everywhere. Takoyaki is famous in Osaka and you can find it all over the city in food stands and restaurant. Takoyaki is a ball of fried batter with a piece of octopus inside. It sound weird but it is so delicious. A couple of weeks ago a couple of my Japanese friends took me to a restaurant where you could make your own takoyaki. You sit at a large table with a skillet iron thing in the middle. One section is flat for other items and there is a section for takoyaki shaped like circles. The waiters bring out batter to your table and pour it onto the skillet then they drop a piece of octopus in each one.

After you let the batter cook for a few minutes you take your chopsticks and start turning the batter to form little balls as you can see in the photo. Once it's finished you get these cute little golden brown balls with octopus inside. You can also put sauce, mayo, or fish flakes on top if you'd like. It was so fun to make and so delicious. I probably wouldn't bring young children to a place like this though because it's a little dangerous with the hot stove on the table.
