5am wake up.... AHHHHHH!
We were up for an early start. 5am came around and it was time to check out and jump in a taxi to the airport. We got an old taxi van that was rickety, so not the best fun at 5.30 in the morning. We were still have asleep when using the self check in machine and clicked on no baggage... Luckily we were able to get this changed and then we were on our way to the South Island :)
During the flight, we were looking out the windows in awe of the beautiful mountains below us. Some of them were even topped with some snow! So amazing! On the plane we were deciding what to do in queenstown and decided Milford Sound is a must. As we were arriving at 9am and most tours had already left, a car was hired and we jumped in and hit the road.
We began driving around a lovely lake before hitting New Zealand country side for a few hours. We then finally arrived at fiorland national park and an hour later at Milford sound. Milford sound is a magnificent mountain range with an amazing lake (it's a sound so not a lake but if you don't know what a sound is). We had clear blue skies and went on a cruise. The cruise was stunning, every way you looked, another chance for an amazing photo. On the cruise we also spent a lot of time chatting to some of the workers on board. Lovely people that stayed at Milford sound for work.
After our 2 hours at Milford sound it was time to jump back into the car and road trip to queenstown. We finally got in at around 10pm and quickly found our hostel. They mucked up the booking and so we got upgraded to a king bed with our own shower and tv! Amazing after 9 hours in the car!
First thoughts on queenstown is wow!! Tomorrow we bungy and swing :) should be fun :)
