For St Olaf's Day my host prepared a number of traditional delicacies for her family to include (clockwise starting from bottoms center), air dried fish, whale meat, whale blubber, fish salad (flounder), veggies and boiled taters. There are chase boats during the race that project a live race image on a super giant size LED screen for the audience to cheer on their team.

One of Ólavsøka greatest events are the boat races held from the far to the near side of the bay. There are smaller crews of 6 and larger crews of 8. Generally there are about a dozen boats in each race and quite often the boats are divided into either female or male crews. My abnb host said the crews train competitively for a good portion of the year and have training weight goals along with time trials.
