Having enjoyed Florence we moved on to San Gimingano a beautiful walled medieval town. We arrived at lunchtime and then spent an hour wandering around having been bused from the campsite which was about 1/2 kilometres away. Next day we went up early into town and really enjoyed pottering about round the narrow streets and admiring the view from the walls over the hillsides.
After a terrific thunderstorm during the night we left next morning in a downpour grateful that it had been nice the previous day. We travelled down to lake Bolsena and found a spot right by the lake where we stayed the night. Again the town was an old walled town with the added attraction of the huge lake. The water felt quite warm and Tessa enjoyed swimming in it?
After a nice walk early in the morning we drove south and stopped in a car park with other vehicles right by the beach. The resorts were quite tacky looking but we had to have a look!!!
Tuesday morning brought a hop down to Pompei and an afternoon spent admiring the ruins. There must be few British dogs who can say they have visited Pompei!
The campsite is right by the ruins and very handy but we will be glad to leave the crowds and start west towards Brindisi . We prefer the quieter areas. Even in October there were loads of tour groups doing the visit and it got quite crowded in places in Pompei.
All good with the truck and we are settled in again now.
