We arrived in Cairns on Friday 12th March 2010 at 1pm our last greyhound bus journey of the trip- woo! Arrived at our hotel, not quite as it looked int he borchure!! Chilled out on our first day, having a wander and visiting the lovely man made lagoon swimming area, was pretty hot in Cairns too! We booked a two day and one night trip here to the Daintree and Cape Tribulation, the trip was great, made even better by our tour guide Peter - who had two key catch phrases - "No worries" and "Too easy!" which he said all the time!!! The trip itself was great, really good tour which including a visit to Port Douglas and a Croc Cruise where we saw one of the biggest residents of the Daintree River - Scarface the croc!!! We also went to the Daintree Ice Creamery and tried the four flavours of the day, raspberry, passionfruit, sour sop (lemony) and wattle seed (mocha), we took in Cape Tribulation Beach, all the various lookouts and rainforest boardwalks too! Our accommodation was lovely a little hut with own bathroom and was our own cabin until we were joined by two Canadians, and a German they sure know how to pack them in!! Us lot were practically the only people in the resort! Really nice place though with pool and clean kitchen and TV room!

We got back to Cairns after two days and one night away from civilisation and moved to a new hostel which was so much nicer! Even had the four bed room to ourselve for the first night, hostel had free airport drop off, clean kitchen and free tea and coffee with loads of toilets and showers for once!

Our last day in Cairns was spent with a mixture of catching up on the Internet where Jimmy typed up the Airlie Beach blog for one hour only to accidently press the wrong button and lose the whole thing!! A J Taylor tantrum followedand finally passed so we could chill out by the lagoon in 34 degree temperatures!

We had a midday flight to Melbourne on Wednesday 17th March 2010 our last stop in Australia! Only 3.5 hours long and went pretty quick and we actually had lovely plane food for once which even included an ice lolly much to my delight!
