Two days ago we finally said farewell to Emma and Jay, with whom we've been travelling for about seven weeks (they went north, while we went south). We had lots of laughs and some excellent jungly adventures. We were also the honoured and only guests at their engagement party last Saturday! Tomorrow we leave Malaysian Borneo for Peninsular Malaysia where our first stop will be Penang. We've spent just shy of a month in Borneo having initially thought we'd only spend two weeks here. From Miri (our last blog) we followed the coastline down to Sibu via a couple of longish bus rides. Having moved from Sabah into neighbouring Sarawak (also part of Malaysian Borneo), we have realised that Sarawak has retained much more of its virgin jungle, rather than giving in to palm oil production. Indonesia is now behind us and we are currently in the jungle of northern Borneo with thunderstorms rolling around us.
