Hi,
We each had a Continental breakfast in Fort Cochin this morning and it was a nice change - Cornflakes, fruit, nice coffee and scrambled eggs with toast.
The only thing missing for me was the Vegemite. Ian and Carol are aware of the stuff but strangely didn't ask us to send them any in Canada once we get home.
We parted company with them today as they set off to meet up with friends in Alleppey - we have quite a lot in common and we'll miss travelling with them for sure.
The whole area commonly identified on maps as Kochi (previously Cochin) is really made up of a number of different parts, including - Fort Cochin (where we are staying), Mattancherry, Willingdon Island and the mainland area of Ernakulam.
Ernakulam was our destination today just to have a bit of a look around. You can use an Ambassador or other type of taxi or an auto rickshaw to get from Fort Cochin to Ernakulam or, to make it a bit more interesting, you can catch a ferry for a 20 minute ride there for the princely sum of 5 rupees (for both of us). We did see a dolphin on the way too.
A much busier place than Fort Cochin and as a result we didn't stay long, returning by a ferry that stopped in at Willingdon Island on the way.
After a late lunch at the Dal Roti Restaurant near our hotel it was back to our room for some lovely air-con and cable TV.
This lazy life can't continue we know but we'll enjoy it while we can.
Cheers,
