Hi everyone.
Well, we made it do Mumbai obviously. Long flights and a bit uncomfortable but that's what you get with the cheap seats.
We are staying in the Fort district of Mumbai about a 10 minute walk from the main Post Office and the Victoria Terminus (the main railway station here that sees about 1 million people through it each day).
We both have near Zombie levels of Jet-lag but still managed to get out and about. Our first full day was spent visiting those two spots plus we went further afield to the Mahalaxmi Temple north west of our hotel and the Dhobi Ghats in the same area (where 3,000 people toil away each day doing the washing for others).
We also visited the Haji Ali Mosque which sits at the end of a long causway that disappears under the Arabian Sea at high tide.
When we were there (at low tide) the causeway was absolutely packed with people going to the Mosque for prayers.
Cultural &/or Political faux pas No. 1:-
Whilst taking a couple of photos within the actual platform area at the Victoria Terminus (now officially called the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus) we were politely told by a railway official that the penalty for taking photo's near the trains was "5,000 and 6 months in jail".
Geewhiz, they filmed some scenes for Slumdog Millionaire in there so who would have known? Anyway, a hasty retreat was made.
Our Hotel is quite plain but clean and tidy with working (but noisy) Air-con so we are OK here for the time being. The WiFi access is a bit limited so updates whilst we are here will be patchy.
Daytime temperature was 18 to 33 degrees so it's not too hard to work up a sweat.
Type you later.

Steve Hughes Great to hear your are travelling again. The blog is a great ideas as well. One way to avoid the jet lag and cheap seats is to eat plenty of vindaloo and fly yourself home. :) Hope you have a wonderful time.
Allen While you're there, why not apply to one of those call centre's & tell them your name is Shake-a Rubbishbinne. I wonder if there is a 5000 roop fine for that???
Aliya Thanks for the update! I've called Nana & Pop to let them know you arrived safely :)
