Little Chloe's intrepid traveller guide!
Hello everyone!!!!!!!!!
Sorry its been so long, im sure ur all waiting desperately in front of your computers for my next entry!!
Well, these last few days . .
Knew something HAD to go wrong on sat when i got the last boat off the island!!
Ended up that there was a storm and instead of sailing direct back to salvador and it taking 2 hours it took almost 4 . . . was joyous, ran back to the hostel grabbed my stuff and jumped on a bus, which was good as it only cost me 1 real 60, as opposed to 60 reals for a taxi!woo. god im nifty . . .
Then was absolutely PETRIFIED on the plane, there was lightening all throughout the sky, and it was pitch black, was exactly like something from a cheap horror flick, was adamant i was gonna die, my legs were shaking, palms sweating, the norm . .
Second plane, decided to get a book, to help me focus on something else!!Its a REALLY good book!u all have to go out and but it now!!Its called tuesdays with Morrie, i cried three times on the plane i think, silently sitting next to some dodgy bolivian guy.As u do.
There were real live toucans outside in the courtyard!! it was crazy!! U see them so close and they just sit there all day. Dont worry i took lots of pics!!
Went to a karaoke bar the other night, was hilarious. Me 2 lovely dutch girls, who im still with here now in sucre, a guy from ireland, and some random other americans/danish. We were all pretty wasted, singing/shouting all the english classics, think the locals were a bit annoyed. They all took it really seriously, singing solo ballads.
Bought the best knock off fendi bag i have ever seen in my life for just 400 bolivianoa = about 30 quid, so now instead of looking like bag lady with my dirty rucksack, and plastic carrier bags, i look like a millionaire to the bolivians!
Got the bus here yesterday, which can only be known as 'the bus of death`. Christ alive, couldve killed the bus driver. The roads are SO dodgy, i wanted to cry. First was scared of the bus falling off these one lane roads about 800m high of the ground, then there was lightening, thought it was gonna rain and there would be a landslide, on top of this, half the journey the roads were blocked due to HUGE falling rocks coming off the mountains. Worst bit was when we driving in the pitch black at about 80mph round these tiny bends, and all u can see is hundreds or crosses at the side marking where all the people have fallen to their death off the cliff.
Stopped of at these FOUL toilets, almost PASSED OUT from the stench, seriously. Could actually here a man having violent diarrheoa in the toilet next door. For a moment i actually wished i was back on the bus . . . then that moment passed . . .
Am staying at a really nice hostel, which is v. clean for just 20 bolivianos a night = 1pound 30!!!!!!!!!a night!!!!
Bolivia is by far the least developed country that ive visitied in S.america, and the least westernized. All the people here really do still sit selling everything on the streets with their long hair in plaits and a baby on their back.
Feeling quite high on the altitude at the mo, feel like ive just taken 20 diazepam! Its a nice feeling tho . .!!!!!!ha ha. Were at about 3000 m above sea level at the mo. Wonder what its gonna be like getting drunk in la paz!! one sip and ill be on the floor . . .!
Must dash!!
much love to each and everyone of u!! Im so glad to be alive!!
Chloe xxxx
