So today I got up and packed and said goodbye to Leah and Dave before heading to the airport ready for the start of my next adventure. I can't believe I am starting my final chapter.
As it's Canada day today and Canada is celebrating 150 years the people in the hotel suggested I left early in case there was traffic! Well funnily enough there was no traffic so I arrived at the airport in 15 minutes and was a little early to say the least. Anyway I checked in and went through customs and security and then explored the airport and bought some breakfast. I then settled down in the airport with my iPad, had a quick catch up with home and then watch some Netflix's while I waited.
The flight was slightly delayed as the ground crew hadn't arrived on time so we sat on the plane for about half an hour before taking off and I spent the journey snoozing and watching films.
When I arrived in Alaska I found a moose in the airport (not a real one obviously). Collected my luggage and went to get the free shuttle but had just missed it, so rather than waiting an hour I jumped in a cab and headed to my hotel where I checked in and made my way directly to the laundry so I don't have to wear smelly clothes for the next 2 weeks!! And then I waited patiently to meet my new group!
So I met my group and they seem nice. It's an all female group, a first for our guide and a mix of people around my age, some younger and some older. 4 people from Switzerland, 2 from Scotland, 1 from Canada and then 2 more that we are meeting tomorrow. After our initial meeting we went for dinner where we got to know each other a little better.
After dinner we headed to bed to get ready for the start of our adventure tomorrow.
