Alright, to reach a little bigger crowd than usual, I've decided to write my blogs in English this time!
I've just arrived in Chihuahua. Mexico after a long bus ride from Denver, Colorado. Me and my mum finished skiing Sunday and we've had several amazing days in the Rockies!
We arrived in Denver together with my mum last Tuesday where we spent one night and the next day we went on to Vail for four days of skiing! It was really something different arriving in Vail, because I'm used to driving on small mounrtainpaths to reach the places I normally ski. Well, this time you just had to exit the freeway, and there you have it!
We had five nights in this great hotel located right next to two lifts so the location couldn't have been better. On top of that the hotel has two outdoor spas and one outdoor heated pool which were facilities we gladly used after a long day skiing!
The two first days I went with my mum skiing which went kind of slow, because she hadn't skied since 2004. She was a little bit rusty. We split up in the afternoon, though, which ment that I was skiing to the lifts closed and my leg muscles cramped!
On the third day of skiing we had company from Kyle, who is my mum's cousin's son, who lives in Boulder, Colorado together with his wife, Dianne, and his daughter Hannah, who he brought. The four of us went skiing Saturday and Sunday, and I must say I had a blast seeing those guys! Really lovely people. I was sad we didn't get to see those guys for more than two days. But we went skiing with them, and Kyle really showed me how skiing should be done. He got help doing just that on Sunday, when we visited Keystone to go somewhere else. We met up with some other great folks from the Colorado area from Dianne's side of the family and those guys kicked some serious ass on those skies! It's not like I'm inexperienced but I was really challenged there and I pushed my limits a lot those days.
To say something about skiing in Colorado: It has been a great experience and I would say that Vail might be the best place I've ever skied. The snow is mostly so great compared to European places and the slopes also something different. It's hard to explain. It's like they don't really care about what's offpist and whats not. You just go ski where there's room! The slopes are sometimes inside woods and trees stand everywhere. It's another kind of freedom that I really like!
We only had one day of sun shining while skiing but that didn't keep me from getting my usual red panda/racoon look because of my goggles... But the snow was great most of the time so thats really what's matters!
But now I'm further down south in Chihuahua, Mexico, where there's plenty of sun! I'm all alone and it's really something different here where they almost only speak Spanish and you here about how dangerous it is. People have really freaked my out telling me how carefull I have to be! Its actually really upsetting! But at least I'm away from the US border. But let me just say that this city has a lot of things in common with the dog of the same name: It's not really charming and actually it's kinda ugly. I've decided to leave first thing in the morning to go on the famous railway through Copper Mountain to the Pacific coast. I'll have a stop in a town called Creel.
This was all for now. Hope you enjoyed reading what I had to offer!
