So....things that happened along the way.....
Eating....you have to eat this freeze dried food stuff, one hot meal a day, comes in bags, you add hot water, wait a while until it rehydrates and then eat it. Gets a bit same-y. All the veggie stuff was Mexican beans and rice, or curry pretty much. The occasional freeze-dried pudding of chocolate cheesecake was welcomed. Breakfast was oats. Then bars in the day, but you pretty much feel hungry constantly. We had 2 rest days during which we ate our weight in food.

We had to walk along a dry river bed in smoke for 4 miles (from an ongoing widespread forest fire) which was pretty eerie. Like being on the moon, or in Star Wars.

I know no one wants to mention it but you'll all be thinking it- Going to the toilet....basically, some of the most picturesque toilets in the whole world I would have thought. Find yourself a nice quiet spot, private, a few bushes/trees, away from the trail, or a nice big boulder or fallen tree, then it's: Trowel. Hole. Done. Definitely a lot more sanitary than going for a wee on a London Midland train.

To lighten the tone again....I did see 2 black bears! I was just walking along and one jumped off a rock/cliff to about 10m in front of me on the trail. (It was a silvery full grown female-looking one) I just squealed "Oh! A bear" and ran backward's to dad to tell him by which time the bear was sloping off so we couldn't get a good picture, so we carried on walking. Then just around the corner up on a bank further away than the last one there was another bear, more brown and smaller than the first. It just watched us for a minute then slopes off as well. Got a picture though! Pretty wicked.

I went swimming in quite a few of the glacial melt-water lakes. They were bloody freezing, but it was the only way of washing, and fantastic feeling jumping in, i began to look forward to that part of the day, and it was like going swimming in a pool with the best view in the world, with a back drop of a 13,000ft peak behind you, or in a lake at 11,000ft with a view down the valley you'd just walked up. It was warm and sunny during the day but hailed once freakishly and was cold some nights depending on how high we camped with my knickers freezing stiff one night when I left them outside!
