Wow. About to start the Camino de Santiago. Not gonna lie I'm scared, but also excited. Have put very little planning into this trip. Packed my bag in less than a day. Carrying wayyyyy too much weight as usual. And not really sure why I'm here- other than to do a really big hike, but apparently that isn't really why you should do the Camino…
fleabags This was hitching a ride from Vermillion Valley Ranch- where we had a rest day- on the back of a guy's truck we had been chatting with during our time there to the beginning of another trail to avoid walking along the desolate dry lake floor again for many miles (see the next photo). The truck ride was amazing!! Always wanted to do this.

re: 19 July 2013fleabags I've included this in here because- although not having left the country yet, this was something we planned for ages and attempted a few weeks before I embarked, almost a training run for the JMT. Well we did pretty well, 24 miles, 15 3000ft peaks in 15hours 8 minutes, some sore feet and painful knees but it was a good day out. Even the extra 3 miles along the never ending track and the rave-dinner we had in bangor's most bangin' club where vicky was certain i might meet my future husband whilst drenched in the sweat and grime of the last 24hours and in full waterproof gear...wasnt that bad. The cider tasted nice. I am slightly concerned about my knee for the JMT but hopefully it'll hold up.
