Hello again all. We all doing fine and have just returned from trekking in the remote hills of Pai, just outside Chiang Mai. We went for three days and two nights and had the experience of a lifetime, riding elephants, trekking through the jungle, and water rafting down the jungle rivers.
The two nights we stayed in random huts that slept about 12 people, luckily cos there was 11 on our trek, any more would have been a little too cosey. We spent the days trekking and seeing wildlife, waterfalls and very strange tribes people. Then in the evenings we had Thai food which we all helped prepare, actually i didn't, i don't think shark or menago did but steve and andy certainly chipped in. We spent the rest of the night drinking Chang, playing drinking games, and endulging in some of the Thai culture.
Once again we had a couple of near death experiences, there was Shark riding on the head of an elephant that decided to blow it's nose on us every two seconds and did it's utmost to knock Shark off on the way down the hill, Dalmonego was almost killed by our deaf and unable to speak tour guide who took quite a shining to Dan and we couldn't quite make out what he was trying to say but def something about them getting married together and starting their own tribe of Thai/Argentinian skinheads, Steve fell head first down a waterfall we were trying to climb down, taking half the waterfall down with him and landing upside down with a massive smash (me and fred shared a glance of my god what are we gonna tell steve's parents until 3 minutes later when the northern giant re-surfaced). I was attacked by the biggest spider i have ever seen which decided half way through our drinking games in the hut to crawl across my back and then stop on my right shoulder and just stare at me giving me the death eye, I actually jumped out of my skin!!
Last but by no means least, the closest we have come to loosing one of the five lost boys came on the early afternoon of wednesday 26th March, when Andy, Fred, Minky, son of Ty and Janice, the engine of the ship perera was guiding his crew to safety on a raft down a very dangerous river when out of no-where the young yid lost his balance and came crashing down on the merciless surface of the hard bamboo, Andy then fell into the water, however, his feet were caught amongst the raft and Andy could not release his legs, after several mintues of laughing from his crew Dalmonego and Sharky, a brave Dalmonego, who I might note is a gunner, ran across the raft with no though of his own safety, and released young Minky's legs from the raft, thus saving him from what i've been told by reliable source and fellow Yid Parko was "certain death I tell thee".However, the drama did not stop there, and Andy who had been pulled back aboard by Dalmonego handsome follower of the Arsenal team who were recently embarrisingly thrashed by Spurs in their carling cup meet, once again hit the deck and rolled out of the boat. Luckily after much laughing and cheering Andrew scrambled back aboard and steered the crew home down the river.
Hope you have enjoyed our blog, to be continued.........................
