Monday - New Years Eve! we spent the day at Santa Monica - was warm enough to sit on the beach (in December!) and we paddled in the sea - i got a bit wetter than anticipated! Walked along the pier and then looked around all the shops for the afternoon. Got back to the hostel early evening where we had a BBQ and then got ready for the 'New Year Party' in the hostel bar. Was pretty quiet for most of the evening but eventually started filling up and there were cheap drinks which was all good! We spent the evening with two girls from our dorm who were really nice and saw the New Year in LA style!

1st Jan - 2008! had a bit of a lazy morning after a late night and in the afternoon walked the whole length of the walk of fame looking in the shops along Hollywood Boulevard. Went out for dinner at a nice Italian restaurant in the Highland centre and then had a quite evening back at the hostel. A nice relaxing day!

2nd Jan - Had an action packed day seeing all the rest of the parts of Hollywood we hadnt yet been to. Did a tour improvising with bus routes cos you never quite no where they're going! We walked along Sunset Boulevard, saw the Beverly Hills sign and some of the posh houses in that area. Then had our pretty women moment on Rodeo drive and looked at (but not in!) the shops down there. Next stop was the Beverly center (where the shops were slightly more affordable but still didnt buy anything!) and then on to the Farmers Market where there were more shops and restaurants and stuff (and a huuuge christmas tree!). Went out to dinner at the oldest restaurant in hollywood which was a bit creepy but the food was nice! then had lots of packing to do ready to fly to Fiji tomorrow!

3rd Jan - long long day! our flight wasnt until the evening so had the day to fill in Hollywood. Spent most of it doing some last bits of souveniring and photo taking, went to the wax museum and had a suitably american last lunch at Johnny Rockets! (burger diner place!). We were picked up from the hostel and taken on another scary drive to the airport - felt like we were going to take off on the motoway! we got there in one piece though and our flight was all on time. It was quite a long journey - 10hours - and an overnight trip so spent most of it sleeping! made it go a bit quicker! arrived in Fiji at 5 o clock in the morning on the 5th Jan having crossed the date line and missed the 4th! hope nothing good happened! :)
