Casa de Olas in San Juan del Sur has honestly treated me like one of their own family. It's amazing location and gorgeous people make it hard to feel anything but happy as you stare out over the infinity pool, bathing in rays, singing along to mellow tunes and laughing at each other's poor jokes. Unfortunately, amongst all the good times, we had to hold each other together after a truly awful incident which I won't detail on here. But, beautifully, magically it actually brought us closer together and created memories amongst a group of friends that I will never forget.
Time here absolutely flew by and before I knew it I'd spent a week, with, I hate to admit, minimum cultural exploration. I did, however, enjoy simply wandering the sweet town of San Juan, looking round a few markets and sampling local food. The beach was also great fun and with such a big group of us we all entertained each other, playing games and even building a human pyramid.
One evening a few if us decided to rent bikes so as to go and visit the giant Jesus statue on the other side of town which is visible even from our hostel. Although intending to go for sunset, by the time we got there it was already dark. The view spanned across the whole town, glistening and all lit up in the after dusk glow of early evening - beautiful.
Beth and Joe left that evening for Columbia and still wanting to see a little further south I realise it's soon time for me to go as well. It's been so hard to leave paradise. It's been so surreal and a true emotional roller coaster. Bye bye San Juan.
