Spent yesterday at a museum in Whangerai, where we saw 2 kiwis scratting about and getting fed, so that they could get back to sleep again.
Interesting part of the museum was a house called Glorat, which was built by a doctor, who had come from Milton of Campsie in 1855 - my flatmate in Aberdeen was called John Langley - his grandmother (Lady Stirling) and his family lived in Glorat, Milton of Campsie in 1972 and probably still do!
Drove up to Bay of Islands and are stopping at Russell (used to be 'The Hell-Hole of the pacific' but is now very ashionable and near the site of the original capital of NZ).
Spent the afternoon on a boat watching dolphins leap out of the sea and the sailed through the infamous 'Hole in the Rock' - see picture.
Scary - had to have a couple of pints to get over it!
